Going Raw

Step # 1:   Your Mind:
Your mind is the number one part of making any decision or changing things in your life. I will say right out- going raw is a challenge, but you are a powerful person with a powerful mind, and I KNOW can do it. We only don't do the things we don't do, because we think we can't do them! Going raw is a joyful, healing, fulfilling experience, but some choose to miss out, simply because they have an incurable mind. A famous herbalist Dr. John R. Christopher once said "There are no incurable diseases, only incurable people!" Believe in yourself- have faith that you CAN do this, because once you make the change in your mind, the rest comes easy.
Step # 2:  Start Substituting:
You don't have to go raw overnight. Although some people have done it without a problem, it's usually too hard for most people. I did it, but basically I was eating cooked food out of peer pressure. My mother transitioned me and my family to the raw diet when I was around 8 years old. I ate raw food for 7 1/2 years, before I started eating cooked food again to be accepted in my peer group. I realized that eating cooked food isn't worth it, because all health, vitality, and true beauty flies out the window. So I went back to raw food- overnight. I'm here to stay this time! Start by substituting raw agave nectar, raw honey or raw coconut crystals, (available at:  www.coconutsecret.com)  instead of processed white sugar, which severely endangers  your health. Substitute refined white flour with raw coconut flour (also available at : www.coconutsecret.com) and ground raw golden flax seeds. Substitute regular bleached table salt with raw sea salt such as RealSalt* or pink Himalayan crystal salt. Take baby steps. One step at a time!

Step # 3:  Add Juices And Smoothies:
Start juicing or blending fresh fruits and veggies and leafy greens! This will boost your health tremendously. Juicing especially causes the nutrients to be absorbed quickly into your bloodstream. You will find that as you begin to add more fresh fruits, vegetables and greens to your diet, that your taste buds will begin to change. Cooked foods will begin to lose their attraction. You will begin to prefer the vibrant flavors of the raw food diet over cooked processed food.

Step # 4:  Make One Meal A Day Raw:
Start by making just one meal a day raw. For instance, if you choose dinner to be raw, make a raw lasagna and a green tossed salad, or a raw soup, with raw dehydrated crackers, instead of the the typical cooked meal. For raw recipes ideas please visit my mom's website www.journeytoraw.org )When you feel ready, make it two meals a day, and keep working it up till you have all three meals fully raw. Remember- you CAN do this. Imagine all the amazing health benefits you will have!

Step # 5:  Find Raw Support:
Inspiration is important here! It's so great to be able to go watch an inspiring raw food video, or read an interesting article on raw foods, when you feel like it's too hard or you just can't do this! I strongly suggest that you follow on Facebook or on YouTube, or on blogs or websites, some wonderful raw food teachers. This will help you a lot on your journey to not fall off the wagon, and to know that yes, there are lots of others eating just like you are! Here are some great raw food teachers to follow:
